Quilt show

It is the week of my guild's quilt show. I am one of the co-chairs so I am very nervous it won't be a success. We have met all of our goals so far. We have 200 quilts in the competition, 32 Medal of Honor quilts plus a few quilts from members who passed this year. We have gotten all the ribbons sponsored this year for the first time since I started working the show 5 years ago. Now we need people to come to the show. The problem is that it is Memorial Day weekend. Everyone appears to be going out of town. I have three quilts in the show. None will win a prize, but I like them all.
I finished this one last night. I pieced it but had my co-chair Cyndi Herrmann quilt it. Sorry the picture is not great. I will get some pictures of the show and post later.

Jessica's Quilts

A couple of years ago, my daughter's best friend, Jessica asked if I would take her Grandfather's clothes and make some quilts for her and her family. It took a couple of years. First she and her family had to pick patterns. Jess went with a modern looking pattern. Her Mother and sister decided on a traditional nine patch. We had to draft the patterns from pictures (a first for me) and then cut up all the clothes. Right in the middle we had to pack it all up while we remodleled our house which took about nine months. We finally got started again. Once I got them all sewed together, we took them to a longarmer to quilt. I bound them with his pants. We made the label using his favorite pants. Here are the results.

Quilt show ribbon

Wow, I have not blogged in a while. I have been consumed with finishing the quilts for Taylor's best friend, Jessica. Before we talk about that, on Tuesday I finally got to see the quilt show ribbon I made. I was asked by my quilt guild to make the rosette for the Novice Award ribbon. The ribbon will be awarded at our Quilt Show on May 23-25. I was thrilled to be asked and very proud of how it turned out. Someone else in the guild finished the ribbons. I just created the top.
