Women's March

Saturday, January 21, 2017 - Today around the world women marched to show support for all women. The purpose of the march was to show we were united in our belief that women are still treated as second class citizens. This was my first march ever. The weather was horrible. It rained and I was sure it would keep people from attending. The organizers were expect 2200 people. Over 5,000 showed up. It was amazing! I had such a good time. We sang and chanted and it felt so nice to be surrounded by so many people who believe the same as me. I love East Tennessee, but the politics of the region make me feel very isolated sometimes.

Things I made in 2017

This page is going to be for things I make this year. Since 2017 is going to be about creativity, I wanted a place to show things I make.
scarf for me

For Isaiah

This quilt won an honorable mention ribbon at our 2017 quilt show.

For Isaiah

I started this quilt top a long time ago and couldn't decide how to finish it. Pulled it out added some yo-yos. I think it turned out pretty well.
For Taylor's birthday

Cross stitch kit from Mount Vernon purchased in October 2017 and finished by me in June 2016- great souvenir from our trip to D.C.

These are bingo blocks I made for our August quilt guild meeting

This was a requested afghan from Graycie. I love the colors she picked out.

2016 Year in Review

I really prefer doing this from home, but my Ipad won't post things right now. I need to reinstall the app and see if that works, but I haven't had time. 2016 flew by, but it was a bad year. I had 8 deaths to deal with this year. Way too many. I got a lot of reading done but very little art. In 2017, I am going to try to reverse those. I really want to do more art. There will be lots of crocheting happening since Jonas and Keri told us on Christmas Eve they are having a little one on July 4th. Very exciting news.

Here is my year in review:

Books - I read 168 books. It totaled 58921 pages, the shortest was 49 pages "Pumpkin Pied" by Karen MacInerney and the longest "The Fiery Cross" by Diana Gabaldon. The average length was 371 pages.
Movies - I only saw 20 movies. I guess my favorite was London Has Fallen. My biggest disappointment was LaLa Land.
Classes - I enjoyed all my classes this year. 4 basket and 1 wet felting.
Trips - We went on a wonderful cruise out of Miami in April, I had the quilt retreat in September, the Georgia game with Jonas and our girls trip to Washington, D.C.
Plays - 19 this year. The best was The Book of Mormon, which I saw twice, the worse "Lesson Before Dying. Lots of good broadway plays this year.
Concerts - we only saw 5, but they were all good. The 5th Dimension, Black Jacket Symphony Journey, Styx, Hot Sardines and Kasey Musgrave.

So there it is the year in review. My word for 2016 was discipline and I did pretty good being disciplined.

For 2017 my word is going to be Art. I need more creativity in my life.

Painting with another Twist

I really enjoy the Painting With A Twist classes. This was a favorite of mine. It was arranged by the Bursar's Office and they invited my office since we had invited them to ours. I love the picture. The only bad thing about the night...on my way home my car was totaled by a careless kid driver.

This was one of the guys in the class. He free handed his. Isn't it amazing?
