My first working trip of the year was to Sewingmachine.com in Atlanta. I taught my J350 class on Friday. I have about 9-11 people there and it went really well. On Saturday, I taught the Serger II class. I have 14 people in this class. It went okay, but they didn't like the pattern because you had to use the cover stitch so much. But they were satisfied with the class.
Now I'm off for a month - up next Quilt Con in Austin, Texas. We had 3 classrooms in Austin. The NX7, the TL18 and a longarm room. There were 3 educators - me, Ginny and Sherry Miller. I did the NX7, Sherry the TL18 and Ginny the longarm. Generally the classes went well. Here are the teachers I had in my classroom -
Victoria Findlay Wolfe - 2 full day classes
Sarah Sharp - 1 3 hour class
Blair Stocker - 3 3 hours classes
Amy Friend - 1 full day class
Victoria gave me her diamond ruler and the pattern that went with that class. Then I went downstairs and bought her small double wedding ring rulers. I love her quilts!
Sarah's class was a paper piece class on her plant patterns.
Blair taught Boro quilting twice and then taught a color value class.
Amy taught another paper piecing class. It was a big flower. I purchased one of her books online about improv paper piecing. Sounds like it should be fun. I also got to meet and hug Angela Walters. It was so exciting. It was a good trip. We sold 6 machines in each classroom. No longarms. On Sunday night Ginny and I went and ate dinner at Stubbs BBQ. The food was delicious and the building was very interesting. Sherry had already gone home.
Home now for 2 weeks and then off to Atlanta for OSQE. Well OSQE in Atlanta was quite the adventure. I had bed bugs in my hotel and the show was shut down one day early for Covid-19. I had two classrooms - a serger and a sit down. I went up on Tuesday after pickle ball. I had to set up the serger classroom for the Wednesday all day event with Jill McCloy. There was only 5 people in class but it was fun. Most of the classes had cancellations due to the virus. There were already people with it in the Atlanta area so people didn't come to the event. On Thursday, I found out that the person Mel hired to sit in the serger classroom had no experience at all with the machine. She could not even change the thread. I complained and they brought in Elbert, who use to work for Juki. He did the serger classroom the rest of the time and did a great job! In the sit down room, I had these classes:
Free-Motion Mastery Quick Intro I with RaNae Merrill. Then Ruler Work Fundamentals with Lauren Jackson, Free Motion Quilting: Positive and Negative space with Lauren Jackson, LongArm Quilting: Basics & Beyond wit Debby Kratovil and Beginner's Guide to Free Motion Quilting with Lauren Jackson. Saturday was cancelled. It was supposed to be two classes with Lauren Jackson - Dream Big! and Feathers. I came home Friday after I took down the serger room. Monday I had to go to the Walk in clinic because my bites were swollen including the ones on my face. I looked horrible. I'm finally better. All my events, however have cancelled until June.
